Music is an important part of the life at St. Paul's. The joyful sound of congregational song, the polished anthems of the choir, and the tonal riches of the magnificent Goulding & Wood pipe organ are all enhanced by the resonant acoustics of St. Paul's sanctuary.
Singers in the Adult Choir and the Youth Choir work enthusiastically
to provide liturgical leadership and to present sacred music offerings.
Instrumentalists and soloists from the parish and the wider community
are encouraged to lend their talents in the music and worship.
The Adult Choir welcomes everybody from high school age upward to its ministry of leading congregational song. The choir also performs at concerts and parish events. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 until 9:00, September through June.
The Youth Choir, established in 1998, rapidly developed to the point of leading the congregation in worship twice each month. Girls and boys in third through eighth grades are encouraged to join the choir which rehearses Wednesdays from 5:30 until 6:20 p.m. No prior musical experience is necessary - only a commitment to attend and cooperate.
Our main pipe organ is a 1995
Goulding & Wood 38-rank, 30-stop
instrument with the pipes located on either side of the altar. The
console is in the right side of the chancel. The estate of Hazel
Savage provided us with a new 9-rank G & W antiphonal gallery organ that
was installed at the end of 1999. This organ has festival trumpets and
other ranks that complement the main organ. It can be played on a
keyboard in the gallery or from the console of the main organ. The large
open space of our church provides superb acoustics for these magnificent
instruments.

Our Organist and Choirmaster, Dr. Larry D. Cook served in Episcopal churches in Cleveland, OH; Washington, DC; and Evanston, IL before coming here. He has taught conducting and church music at Baldwin-Wallace College, the University of Alberta, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Northwestern University and DePaul University. While at Northwestern he was also director of music at the university's Alice Millar Chapel.
